March 2, 2014 - At our recent ApCal Benefit for the Fresno Aquarium and Calendar of Events Launch Party, 100% of the entry fees brought us to 399 total concrete blocks sold and we needed just one more to hit 400. Our emcee, Meteorologist AJ Fox from KSEE24 news, worked the attendees to see if he could coax one more block from our supporters as the event was drawing to a close.

That's when Darren Schmall, the owner of ApCal, jumped to the stage and held up our 400th block. In addition to Darren's generosity, the great band that performed for us that afternoon, Deja Blues, also came forward and put their name on a block as well! Deja Blues' performance was sponsored by Larry Holody, CFP®, Senior Vice President & Financial Advisor at Holody-Dias Investment Group with RBC Wealth Management.

These last two block purchases came as a complete surprise to us and really put an exclamation point on a successful fundraising event.

We encourage anyone who wants to host a "block party" to buy concrete blocks to help build the Fresno Aquarium to please contact us. There are still a limited number of blocks, both large and small, available. Once we have sold enough blocks, we can begin construction of our very first building!
