A Place for our Community

August 31, 2019 - As donations both small and large come in, the nonprofit Aquarius Aquarium Institute is building the Fresno Aquarium to be not only our future home, but also to be a center of activity for the entire central San Joaquin Valley community. People of all ages enjoy Aquariums with family and friends and hopefully learn a little bit more about aquatic life in a particular region and throughout our world.

Besides providing more room for the incredible sea creatures currently in the Institute's collection, the Aquarium will truly belong to the entire community. When we say "ours," we mean everyone.

That's why it is important not to ask, "When will it be done?" or "When will we be able to visit?" but rather "What can I do as a member of this community to help this project along?"

Some supporters have money to give to nonprofit projects like ours and some do not. But money shouldn't stop you from thinking about how you can be a positive force for good here in Fresno. As opposed to sitting back and waiting for others to step up ("I'll support it after it opens"), you have the power of your voice to express your excitement about the Aquarium project. This can be as simple as conveying your enthusiasm in your day-to-day conversations and on social media. This, in turn, may inspire others to give.

The Fresno Aquarium project is not about the Institute's all-volunteer local board and founders - it is about all of us who live here coming together to support a vision that will help make our Valley a better place.
