Construction Activity and an Aquarium Trailer!
April 14, 2013 - Passers-by on Highway 99 at the northern entrance to Fresno have noticed orange safety fencing around the Fresno Aquarium property this week and we've been getting many interested phone calls inquiring about what's going on.
The orange fencing is simply meant to define the borders of our land for the Caltrans construction crews who are working on widening the freeway and building two brand-new bridges over the San Joaquin River. The trailer pictured above is just behind our "Future Site" sign and belongs to Aquarius Aquarium Institute.
We are very grateful to Ken Hendrix of Fresno, who donated the 24-foot long trailer to the Institute and are looking forward to constructing improvements to it such as skirting, a porch facing the San Joaquin River, stairs and an ADA ramp so it can serve as our home base on our property in the middle of all the Caltrans activity.
We will be scheduling some weekend work parties this summer out on the site and hope anyone who has experience in construction or painting will sign up for our volunteer email updates so we can get the word out about when these will happen.
We continue to make progress and need as many people as possible to keep this grassroots project moving along!
